CASW: The Council for the Advancement of Science Writing To increase the public understanding of science.

Other CASW Activities

  • Under the "Brown Bag" program, seasoned science reporters meet with promising researchers -- future newsmakers -- to explain the ins and outs of the newsgathering business and to provide advice about how to work with journalists.

  • As a function of the "Traveling Guru" program, veteran journalists visit on-site with editors and reporters on smaller-sized newspapers to counsel them on how to increase and best enhance local science coverage and, as part of CASW's diversity outreach efforts, also to participate in national meetings of minority journalism organizations.
