CASW: The Council for the Advancement of Science Writing To increase the public understanding of science.

The 46th Annual Conference:

New Horizons in Science ®

Sun., October. 26 -- Wed., October 29, 2008

Meeting jointly with NASW as part of ScienceWriters 2008

All-day NASW/CASW bonus field trips, Wed., Oct. 29

Organized by:
Council for the Advancement of Science Writing

Hosted by:
Stanford University

We will convene near Stanford University on El Camino Real, the modern-day counterpart of the royal road connecting the Spanish missions. That historic trail now cuts through Silicon Valley and near the San Andreas fault, making it as much a scientific landmark as a historical one.

There we will hear from leading researchers about human- computer interaction, evolution, pain treatment, climate change, dark energy, the brains of psychopaths, and more. And we've planned tours of Stanford labs and all-day field trips to a NASA research station, a mountain winery, and Monterey Bay.

All program decisions for New Horizons are made by the Council for the Advancement of Science Writing, solely to serve the interests of science writers.
