to attend CASW's 47th Annual
NEW HORIZONS IN SCIENCE BRIEFING
October 16-20, 2009
Austin, Texas
The annual conference brings together top-rank scientists and leading science reporters for an in- depth look at seminal developments in science, medicine and technology that are likely to make news in the coming months. Fellows will also have the opportunity to participate in the day-long professional workshops sponsored by the National Association of Science Writers that immediately precedes the briefing as part of Science Writers 2009.
The fellowships are intended primarily for reporters from smaller metropolitan print and broadcast news outlets, freelancers and Webcasters with a demonstrated interest in science writing. They offer a unique introduction to science reporting that will prove of long-term benefit to the individual and the profession.
CASW will, upon request, assign a veteran science writer to serve as personal mentor to the fellowship recipient.
Details of New Horizons 2009 will be posted on August 1. For information about the NASW workshops, go to nasw.org.
The 2009 New Horizons Traveling Fellowships are underwritten by a grant from the McCormick Foundation
