On World Press Freedom Day, the Council for the Advancement of Science Writing is expressing its unwavering support for Press Freedom United’s (PFU) efforts to defend press freedom in the United States and around the globe.
CASW is among the hundreds of organizational and individual signees of PFU’s letter calling on U.S. leadership and the public to shore up efforts to protect the First Amendment. PFU delivered the letter to Congress and the White House on May 2.
For more than 60 years, CASW’s mission has been to improve the quantity and quality of science news reaching the public. That mission is deeply intertwined with the ability of journalists and other communicators to pursue their work without fear of retribution from the government.
