Laura Dattaro

Laura Dattaro is a freelance science journalist who writes about the brain, genetics, and physics, among other topics. She became CASW’s Communications Coordinator in 2023. She currently writes for publications including symmetry, OMNIA, and Quanta magazines, and has also been published in outlets including the Columbia Journalism Review, Popular Mechanics, Slate and The New York Times. Prior to joining CASW, she worked as a senior reporter at Spectrum, where she covered autism research and launched the Null and Noteworthy newsletter, a monthly roundup of null results and replication studies in the world of autism. She has an M.A. in science and health journalism from Columbia University and a B.A. in English and music from the University of Delaware. She lives in New Jersey with her husband, toddler, and two cats.
